Howells Glass Company, Inc. is your go-to Lancaster glass company. What started as an auto glass and paint company in 1924 evolved into the glass and home improvement business you know and love today. Founder George Washington Howells opened Howells Lancaster Auto Glass & Paint Company to help Lancaster residents have access to a store that had it all, from hardware and paint to seeds, onion sets and auto glass. Regardless of your home improvement needs, Howells most likely has the solution.

Over the years, the business grew to become a staple in the community. The already multifaceted store expanded its offerings even more when son and second-generation owner Robert R. Howells incorporated his skills in contract glazing, aluminum storefronts, doors and windows into the business. In addition to more residential services, the company also expanded into serving commercial organizations and businesses big and small with exceptional products and services.

The glass company became even more prominent in the local area with the additional services provided. Unfortunately, in 1979, an arson-related fire destroyed the entire rear shop and company vehicles. However, Howells rebuilt and reopened within three months because the company’s spirit, fortitude, and commitment to the community never wavered.

On January 1, 1995, Robert G. Howells was named President of Howells Glass Company, Inc., representing the third generation of the family-owned and operated business. Robert R. and Robert G. Howells and their team of over 20 full and part-time employees continue working together to serve Lancaster and the surrounding counties.
